Tom Trueman
Head of Programmes
Tom is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He has always had a fascination with travel and visiting the far flung corners of the world. Much of his childhood was spent in Hong Kong and Brunei, and this was followed by visits to the Himalayas, and an independent journey from Hong Kong via Beijing and Moscow to the Mediterranean coast of Spain by train.
He has a particular fascination for Africa and has viewed the extremes of what the continent has to offer from the top of Kilimanjaro to the wilds of the Namib Desert.
Tom works closely with schools during the two years leading up to the expedition by helping the team to develop fundraising skills – and where necessary dropping in the odd innovative idea on the occasions when teams are not quite sure what to do next.
