Malaysia & Borneo

Malaysia is home to an extraordinary blend of nature and people which makes it a special and unique destination. It is a cosmopolitan nation with a variety of ethnic groups who pride themselves on their strong cultural histories which continue to play a part in their daily lives.

The country is divided into two; peninsula Malaysia which shares a border with Thailand in the
north and Singapore in the south, and East Malaysia on the island of Borneo, which consists of the states of Sabah and Sarawak, and borders Indonesia and Brunei.

The capital Kuala Lumpur in peninsula Malaysia is one of the most modern in Asia, but it is only a short hop to the adventure and remoteness that this land has to offer. Trekking areas vary from the rolling hills of the Cameron Highlands to the lush primary ancient jungles of the interior. A wide variety of projects are available and this destination particularly suits teams who are looking for environmental sites.

At the end of the expedition teams may wish to visit the golden beaches of the "peninsula" or spend time in Kuala Lumpur - or have the option of flying back via Singapore.

For those who choose to go to Borneo there is the option of climbing Mount Kinabalu at 4095m. The projects generally take place in villages in the interior which can be reached by plane or by river. For R & R there is the must see option of a visit to an orangutan sanctuary.
